George Alvin Nelson, 89
George Alvin Nelson, 89, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on April 13, 2006.
Memorial services will be scheduled and announced later in the spring.
George was born in Ruab, Ind., on Feb. 22, 1917, the son of William and Mary Nelson.
He worked as a civilian employee in Hawaii during World War II. Following the war, he managed cardboard box factories in Lafayette, Ind., and Los Angeles, Calif.
In 1981, he moved to Bottle Bay near Sandpoint, and then continued to live in Sagle, Idaho. He helped establish the facility for the Sagle Senior Citizens and then worked in the Sagle Senior Thrift Store.
He was a member of the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Sandpoint.
Being from Indiana, he was a big fan of the Indianapolis 500 race. he also enjoyed repairing the machinery for the factories in which he worked.
He is survived by his wife, Eve Neson of Sandpoint; a daughter, Jane Stone of Kaui Hawaii; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Lorna Eldridge of Brookston, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
