Licht leads Bulldogs to victory

| April 28, 2006 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Tyler Lichty's two-run double off Andy Seaman in the bottom of the sixth proved to be the winning margin as Sandpoint came from behind to beat Coeur d' Alene 6-5 Friday night at War Memorial Field.

"It's a common theme for us, we can't finish games," said Vikings' coach Brian Holgate. "We didn't get it done and they did."

Down 5-4, Ricky Klontz led off the Bulldog sixth with a walk, then consecutive doubles by Noah Hawkins and Lichty gave the Bulldogs (8-5, 7-5) the lead before Zac Manor got the last three outs for the win — a gift for his little brother's birthday..

"We weren't free swinging," said Bulldogs' coach Mike Givens. "We were really disciplined and put the ball in play. Those two doubles were huge."

Lichty threw five quality innings to keep the Bulldogs in the game before winning it with his bat.

"Tyler threw a great game and Zac came in and shut the door," said Givens.

Jake Hall had three hits for the Vikings (9-8, 5-7).

The Bulldogs host Lakeland today at 9 a.m.
