Animal shelter depends on donations, thrift store

The Panhandle Animal Shelter should not have to beg for money. The caring for stray and unwanted animals is normally the responsibility of local governments. For more than 15 years, Sandpoint and Bonner County have been getting a free ride from the shelter.
Does anyone remember the deplorable situation of animals wandering around uncared for before the shelter opened? Animal lovers were taking strays into their homes while trying to find someone to adopt them.
Until the local governments assume their financial responsibility and subsidize the shelter, PAS will have to depend on its thrift shop and donations from concerned citizens. Please dig deep to provide help for these defenseless creatures.
