Same old protestors marred groundbreaking

| August 2, 2006 9:00 PM

I attended the ground breaking of the PSB in Sandpoint, it was well done but marred by 15 protestors, five from the same family. I am not sure what the PSB has to do with the milfoil problem and I do not understand why they felt it necessary to protest at the ground breaking.

These so called "do gooders" are many of the same people that just seem to make a life of protesting, milfoil, the war, George Bush, same people same old protest.

If they are upset about weed control why do the not put down their sign and go pull the damn weeds themselves. Of course it is easier to be part of the problem instead of solve the problem

They do not like the killing during the war but yet they do not protest the 18,000 killed by guns in the U.S., just last year, they do not protest the gang that run many of our cities and they do not protest drunk drivers or the 50,000 killed on the road each year.

They do not protest for strong law enforcement. They protest global warming and blame the people for it, The entire state of Idaho was covered with glacier ice years ago and it started melting and still is. Not since man walked the earth but from millions of years of warming, but the protestors still blame the United States.

As for President Bush only time and history will tell if he is a good president or not. This terrorist problem started in Iran, when Jimmy Carter was president, remember, and he did nothing but protest. If the problem was fixed then we would not have the problem now. Bill Clinton, what did he do to solve the problem, talk, payoff the leaders and protest. A lot of good that did president Bill Clinton.

It is time we counter the protester with our own protest, challenge their arguments and when they show up at public events the silent majority should seek the protestors out ask them for proof of what they are saying and tell them to take their sign and go home.

We should no longer allow a few to speak for the many. Sandpoint is a wonderful place to live and I believe in free speech but there is a time and a proper place and the PSB ground breaking is not it.

Thank you, PSB, for making Sandpoint your home and we are glad you are here.
