Calvin F. 'John' Kohne, 82

Calvin F. "John" Kohne, 82, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006.

Family memorial services will be held at a later date.

John was born in Lost City, W.V., on May 10, 1924, and he attended school in Paw Paw, W.V.

He joined the U.S. Army, and served in the European Theater during World War II and participated in Normandy and the liberation of France.

Following the war, he learned to weld in the mines of Butte, Mont. He was a welder, doing iron work, throughout the United States and in many foreign countries. In 1974, he retired due to a disability.

On April 25, 1986, he married Dorothy G. Pedersen in Winnemucca, Nev. He lived in Oldtown and Priest River, Idaho, for 20 years, moving to Sagle in 2005.

He was a member of Kaniksu Lodge No. 97, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and a 32nd degree member of the Valley of Coeur d'Alene Orient of Idaho.

John enjoyed working with metal and creating art with his welding skills.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Dorothy Kohne of Sagle; his son, Steven Kohne of Phoenix, Ariz.; two foster sons, Duncan McCloud and Red McCloud, both of Butte; and five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three children.

Final arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
