Heather (Moberly) Gibson, 47

| August 10, 2006 9:00 PM

Heather (Moberly) Gibson, 47, passed away on Aug. 8, 2006, after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer.

A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at 6:30 p.m. at the Gibson residence at 408 Sunnyside near Sandpoint, Idaho. A potluck dinner will follow.

Heather was born on April 3, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Merle and Diana Moberly. She attended St. George High School and later graduated from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore.

Heather married Greg Gibson on May 17, 1986, in Hope, Idaho, and the couple has lived in Sandpoint for the past 20 years.

Heather took great delights in living, passionate about everything she did. Heather had a lifelong interest in skiing, rowing her shell on the lake, gardening, traveling, reading and picking huckleberries.

Most of all Heather's pride and joy is her two sons, Kyle and Jasper. She was always there to cheer them on in all their sporting and school events.

She loved people and particularly children. She was especially gifted in bringing people together whether it was for southern dinners, Thai feasts or any excuse to have fun. She started many traditions with her family and friends. Informal parties at her house were appreciated by many.

Heather was a visionary with big dreams. One of those dreams was bringing cancer care to Sandpoint. Following her diagnosis of breast cancer Heather founded Community Cancer Services to supply information, equipment and other aid to those diagnosed with cancer. She helped raise thousands of dollars to support the center through ski races and auctions.

Before she passed the CCS board renamed the center "Heather's House" in her honor.

Her friendly and happy manner will be missed by us all. Heather is survived by her husband of 20 years, Greg; and two sons, Kyle and Jasper, her parents, Merle and Diana Moberly of Spokane, Wash.; also by her sister and brother-in-law, Lisa Moberly and Mike Foeller of Reno, Nev.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Heather to the Community Cancer Services at P.O. BOX 2213, Sandpoint, ID 83864.

Lakeview Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Please visit Heather's memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her online guestbook.
