Kimber Lickert, 48

| August 15, 2006 9:00 PM

Kimber Lickert, 48, passed away on Aug. 8, 2006, at her home in Clark Fork, Idaho. She'd fought a courageous four-year battle with ovarian cancer.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Kimber was born on December 2, 1957, in San Pablo, Calif., to Janis and Jack Hively. She attended Ygnacio Valley High School in Walnut Creek, Calif.

Kimber moved to Clark Fork in 1989, where she worked a while waitressing. She then bought her property and began working for Panhandle Health in 1996, where she became a certified nursing assistant and found her true calling. She commuted from Clark Fork to Priest River and all points in between, helping her patients with loving care and doing many extra duties for them.

She was a gourmet cook and made her own special truffles for friends and family each Christmas. She enjoyed gardening and loved children and animals, raising and training her own part-wolf dogs at home. She collected and had a vast knowledge of guns, and knew how to use them.

She married Glen Lickert in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in November 2002, after her diagnosis and credited him with extending her life. She went back to California to care for her mother at home, who also suffered from cancer, then she returned home in 2006.

She is survived by her husband, Glen; her brother, Kirk Hively (Leslie) of Clayton, Calif.; her sister, Robyn Hively of Washington; nephews, Nicolas Fordham and Sean and Kyle Hively of California; a niece, Danica Hively, of Tennessee; a great-niece, Kiara and a great-nephew, Damian, both of Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her father and her mother.

Her strong and effervescent presence will be missed by those she knew, but we are content that relief is finally hers.

"Though I cannot see thee more 'tis still a comfort to have seen, and though thy transient life is o'er 'tis sweet to think that thou hast been;

to think a soul so near divine within a form so angel fair, united to a heart like thine, has gladdened once our humble sphere." Ann Bronte

Donations on her behalf may be made to Hospice - Sandpoint, Idaho
