Kenneth Allyn Butler, 56

Kenneth Allyn Butler, 56, sales associate at Taylor-Parker Motor Company, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, in Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint.

Ken was born Jan. 15, 1950, in Eugene, Ore., to Allyn and Betty Butler. He grew up in Eugene and graduated from high school there. Sports have always been his passion, and he played baseball, volleyball, and basketball.

After high school Ken attended college prior to moving to Hawaii for one year.

Upon his return to Oregon he worked in construction prior to moving to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho to help a friend start a waterbed business. It was during this time that Ken honed his sales skills. Ken entered the auto industry and sold cars for Coeur d'Alene Honda and Knudtsen Chevrolet until 1990, when he moved to Sandpoint and went to work for Taylor-Parker Motor Company.

Ken married Michelle Morgan on Feb. 14, 1992, in Sandpoint. The couple lived for short periods in Maui, Hawaii, and Brookings, Ore., for 10 years they lived in Portage, Wis., and in 2003 they moved back home to Sandpoint.

Ken was a member of Trout Unlimited and Sandpoint Elks Lodge No. 1376. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, biking, walking, traveling, and sports. He recently took up cooking, and his favorite lunch was "Joel's" spicy Mexican food.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Butler of Sandpoint; a son, Deatly Butler of Liberty Lake, Wash.; a daughter, Rebecca (Steven) Prochaska of Coeur d'Alene; his mother, Betty Butler of Eugene; a sister, Dawn Yeager of Seattle, Wash.; three stepchildren, Carolyn (Gary) Enloe of Palmer, Alaska, Adam Tekip of Key West, Fla., and Nathan Tekip of Denver, Colo.; and six grandchildren Katie and Tanner Enloe, Cody Tekip, Hope Arthur, Sam Prochaska, and Jonathan Tekip.

He was preceded in death by his father Allyn Butler.
