Gene M. Johnson, 73, passed away in Sagle, Idaho, on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006.

Family services will be held at a later date.

Gene was born in Sterling, Colo., on June 23, 1933, graduating from high school in 1951 in Roundup, Mont. For many years he lived in Park City, Utah, working as a sign painter and as a gun smith. He also owned and operated the Silver Wheel Theatre. He enjoyed the study of photography and printing processes.

Gene was an inventor, and among the things he invented were the process of etching a person's photograph in stainless steel and a carburator to improve gas mileage.

On March 20, 1981, he married Lois Cain in Elko, Nev.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Johnson of Sagle; and his stepchildren, Adaire Faldmo of Sandy, Utah, Robert Monger of Elko, Nev., and Mitchel Monger of Sagle, Idaho.

His parents preceded him in death.

Final arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
