KOOTENAI — It was not the opener that head coach Brian Arthun had in mind, as his team was unexpectedly trounced 60-14 at Kootenai in non-league action.
"We came out flat and they stuck it to us," said Arthun, who thought Kootenai might be a darkhorse in the North Star League. "We had too many breakdowns. We didn't tackle well, and we just didn't wake up."
Mike Martin and Austin Martin scored the two touchdowns for the Cats (0-1) in the losing effort. The Cats will look at film, and should put up a much tougher fight when the two teams meet later this season in league play.
