School buildings need our support
I am supporting the Lake Pend Oreille School District levy for a simple reason: It's time.
I see schools in other nearby communities and wonder why our schools don't look more like those. The answer is because we haven't taken very good care of our schools. It's been more than 15 years since the district has made any major improvements to school buildings, and the last time voters approved a plant facility levy was in 1985.
No one likes to pay more taxes, but communities get what they pay for. I'm willing to pay more to get school buildings as good as the kids who learn there and the teachers who work there.
The levy is just a start on upgrading our schools. I hope you will join me in voting yes for the schools on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
