James W. 'Jim' Chapman 78

James W. "Jim" Chapman 78, Sagle, Idaho, passed away on Monday, Aug. 28, 2006.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel. Pastor Barry Johnson, New Song Bible Church, will officiate.

Jim was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Norfolk, England, and moved, with his family, to Alberta, Canada, in 1929. In 1939, he moved to Trail, British Columbia, living in both Fruitvale and Rossland, B.C., in the 1950s.

He married Willie Shields on Oct. 6, 1951, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and moved to Sagle in 1958. He worked as a gypo logger for many years, operating his own equipment. In later years he ran his bulldozer and retired in 1993.

He liked to collect and polish rocks, making his own jewelry. He also made furniture and continued working with wood in his retirement years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Willie Chapman of Sagle; four children, Richard (and Rainey) Chapman of Spokane, Wash., Earl (and Bobbi) Chapman of Sagle, Idaho, Lynda (and Brian) Berger of Sagle, and Marvin (and Cindy) Chapman of Sagle; a daughter-in-law, Sally Chapman of Sagle; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers, all living in Canada; and many childhood friends still living in Canada.

His parents, a son, David; a grandson, Christopher; a brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
