Vote yes on Sept. 5 on school district levy
Reading the article on poverty in last week's paper I thought about the antidote to poverty, which is education. Education provides equal opportunity to all. In our country we agree to provide a free primary education to all our children no matter what their means. Yet it is not truly free, for we as adults must provide the facilities to educate the future generation.
As a parent and community member I find it disappointing that we expect our teachers to educate and inspire our children in the overcrowded and often unsafe facilities we currently provide. We can and must do better. We now have that chance.
In Idaho, funding for facilities is separated from the operating budget and falls entirely to the property taxpayers within the district. Now is our chance to finish a school which was never completed. A facilities levy proposal which is cost effective, thoroughly investigated, and has widespread support is now before us on Sept. 5. Join me in supporting our students and teachers by voting yes.
