Letter writer seems to be a bit defensive

| December 4, 2006 8:00 PM

Mrs. Robert Heyney is entitled to her opinion. I would never dispute that. However, she seems to be very defensive about my comments over a point of view shared by a minority of Americans.

And so she should as she attacks from ambush. I say that because she is not even a registered voter (How do I know this? The voter registration list is a public record and, as a candidate, I had easy access to it) nor does her name appear in the telephone directory.

Now I don't mind people taking shots at me. Truth be told I love a good argument. But I like to deal with people out in the open where we can look one another in the eye. Mrs. Heyney is attacking from off the radar. Yes, Mrs. Heyney, I'm fair game and I accept that, but why not a fair fight?

By the way, that same poll that I cited in my Nov. 19 letter now shows (based on November data) that only two states still have President Bush with more than 50 percent approval. But, both Idaho and Utah are down to 55 percent from 57 percent in October. The president went from 37 percent to 36 percent. That leaves him with a favorable rating in states representing less than 1.5 percent of America's population.

And I was worried about being unpopular?
