Mildred Susan Iverson, 97
Mildred Susan Iverson, 97, passed away on Dec. 1, 2006, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Mildred was born May 3, 1909, in Sandpoint, Idaho, the youngest of four children born to Frank and Amber Bond. She spent her childhood in Sandpoint, Naples and at a homestead wheat ranch southwest of Lethbridge, Alberta, near the Canadian border.
Mildred attended South Maid School (Washington Elementary) and attended high school in Libby, Mont., where she played on the high school basketball team.
She lived and worked in Portland and Spokane before moving to Coeur d'Alene, where she met and married Lyman Monte Haynes on Aug. 20, 1928. Her first son, Donald, was born on March 16, 1930.
They were divorced in 1938 and on July 11, 1941, Mildred married Nordeen Iverson in Coeur d'Alene. Their son, Terry, was born June 15, 1943. Mildred lived in the fort grounds during the war years.
She worked at Grace Hall's Women and Apparel for a number of years.
On July 11, 1991, Mildred and Nordeen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Coeur d'Alene. In 2005, they moved to Sandpoint to be closer to family.
Mildred loved dancing, reading, swimming, athletics, sewing, crocheting, and designing women's apparel.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Nordeen Iverson of Sandpoint; two sons, Donald (Shirley) Haynes of Clackamas, Ore., and Terry (Edna) Iverson of Sandpoint; six grandchildren, Justin Iverson, Amy Mitton, Tyler Haynes, Lansing Haynes, Dana Haynes and Mary Sebers; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Genevieve and Mary; and a brother, Frank.
