The Dec. 1 story on the front page of the Bee regarding the cancellation of the assessor-elect planned meeting with the current staff needs embellishment.

No action on the part of Judie Conlan could more aptly demonstrate why she should never hold public office again. Further, for her to say some of her staff felt "discomfort" at the thought of meeting with assessor-elect Clemons prior to being sworn in is an astoundingly dumb statement.

What kind of emotions will the staff have when he actually takes over and wants to meet with them?

Want to bet they all take the Fifth if he asks about this during their first interview. Jerry's request was reasonable and re-elects an understanding of how to run an efficient office. Conversely, Ms. Conlan has demonstrated her total lack of business management along with an inability to communicate with her constituents.

The majority of voting citizens of Bonner County should be applauded for recognizing her ineptness and the futility of keeping her in office any longer. Let's give the assessor-elect a chance (although belatedly) to get his office running and who among the personnel are worthy of keeping their "uncomfortable" jobs.
