Ref Joseph Wythe's opinion, Daily Bee on Dec. 19: I couldn't agree more. About 25 years ago I touted the very same route in a letter to the Daily Bee, not realizing at that time I was already 25 years behind the times. My letter to the Bee elicited no response from anyone.

Some time later the ITD had an open house at the Bonner Mall with discussions about the bypass. I asked one of the men with the answers about the west side I had written about. His answer was that it involved too many wetlands. That was (and is) a non-issue because they destroy and replace wetlands on a daily basis.

When I pushed a little harder his demeanor indicated to me "…our minds are made up — don't confuse us with facts." I think that is still the case.
