Ruth Adean Cable, 86

Ruth Adean Cable, 86, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2006 in Sandpoint, Idaho with family by her side.

Memorial services will be conducted at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in El Segundo, Calif. on Jan. 6, 2007. Burial was held at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, Calif. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Ruth was born March 25, 1920, in Oil City, Penn., to Herbert Waslohn and Lois (Frank) Waslohn.

Ruth married Donald Cable in Oil City, on March 20, 1937.

Donald and Ruth Cable moved from Pennsylvania, with their six children, to California in 1951 residing in Torrance, El Segundo, Chino and Pomona, Calif. Ruth was a stay at home mom. Ruth moved to Sandpoint, in November of 1993. She fell in love with the area after visiting her son the summer of 1993. Ruth felt so at home and safe in Sandpoint.

She loved to walk down town and visit with local merchants. Ruth made new and special friends wherever she went. Ruth looked forward to all of the craft fairs, quilt shows, Lost in the 50s and other events that took place in Sandpoint.

Ruth loved life and all it had to offer. The most important thing in Ruth's life was family and family gatherings at her home which included her large extended family. The most obvious thing about Ruth was her love for the color red. She also loved anything with huckleberries. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she celebrated with gusto!

Survivors include her sons, Billy Cable and wife Teresa of Sandpoint, Jim Cable of Irwindale, Calif., John Cable and wife Mindy of Tallulah, La., and two daughters Nancy Kirkland of Pioneer, La. and Sandra Walley of Moore, Okla., her sister Betty Coe of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; 21 grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Lois Waslohn, husband Donald Cable, son Donald (Spike) Cable, brother Lester Waslohn, and great-grandson Christopher Smitherman.
