Voters didn't want recreation distict
Following an overwhelming defeat (88 percent) Pend Oreille Recreation Tax District backers have vowed to bring their ridiclous boondoggle before voters again. What more do they need to realize that the vast majority of residents simply are against this scheme?
Backers stated "the rec center isn't about taxes" Wrong! It is entirely about trying to finance an unnecessary, extravagant, special interest project at taxpayer expense, permanently adding $160 and upward to most of our tax bills. Voters readily saw through this thinly-disguised effort to force them to pay for others luxuries.
Backers whined that opponents circulated mis-information. Wrong again. Opponents simply told it like it was — an extravagant, special interest, tax grab. Backers were the real mis-informers from the initial petition that hid what it really was, a taxing district with resultant tax increases' to trying to convince residents that something most of us would never use and didn't need was a good deal we should happily pay for.
What more do we have to do to tell these people we see through their schemes and won't accept them. Perhaps show our displeasure with their tactics by boycotting their businesses and taking money from their pockets as they would so readily take from ours.
Backers say "Oh, but it's for the kids." If you swallow that old worn out slogan then maybe you should look to invest in oceansideproperty in Arizona.
Enough said.
