Marguerite Louise Fuhrmann Carver, 97
Marguerite Louise Fuhrmann Carver, 97, passed away on Feb. 3, 2006, in Spokane, Wash.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, at The Cathedral of St. John in Spokane.
She was born on Dec. 28, 1908, at the family home at Fourth and Hatch (now a westbound lane of Interstate 90) in Spokane.
She demonstrated a love of music, drama and sports at an early age. During her time at Lewis and Clark High School, she participated on the swimming team and put on several private piano recitals and one-act plays written by herself and close classmates.
After high school she traveled throughout the Northwest and British Columbia. She eventually became a medical secretary to Dr. Rott in his eye, ear, nose and throat practice in Spokane. She married Harold Carver in 1940. After World War II, she left medical secretarial work to raise a family and support Harold in his continuing work with the Washington Water Power Company (47 years).
A lover of animals, she spent time at Playfair and with the family owned pleasure horses. She did learn at 55, however, that learning to water ski was not the best decision ever made.
She loved flying in small planes with her son after he graduated from the University of Washington with a pilot's license and a commission in the Air Force. She spent two weeks every spring planting geraniums at home on Mt. Vernon Drive for 40 years. At 80 years of age she was confirmed in The Episcopal Church and became a member of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
In 1998 she took up residence in Moran Vista Assisted Living and after suffering a broken hip, became a resident of St. Joseph Care Center. She received marvelous and loving care at both residences and never failed to mention during visits how well they cared for her.
She is survived by her son, the Rev. J.P. Carver; her daughter-in-law, The Rev. Barbara S. Carver; a nephew, Alan T. Fuhrmann; and niece-in-law Carol Fischer Anderson.
Memorials may be made to St. Agnes' Episcopal Mission, Vicar's Discretionary Fund, P.O. Box 952, Sandpoint, ID. 83864; or any charity you feel moved to support.
