Make it your business to get informed about candidates

| February 25, 2006 8:00 PM

It will soon be time to decide for whom you want to cast your vote.

There is a whole host of people vying for county and state positions this year. Even though the official deadline to declare candidacy isn't close, there is more interest than we have seen in years.

How are you going to decide to vote?

The Bee believes the vast majority of candidates run for office with the right intentions.

As the United States continues to spread democracy around the globe, this might be a good year to remind ourselves why the United States has the longest and most successful democracy in the history of the world.

The secret ingredients are participation and education. Please cast an informed vote by learning all you can about each candidate.

One of the biggest dangers for democracy is an electorate that is told for whom to vote and one that makes decisions based on false or misleading information.

Please register. Be informed. Be an active part of your community.
