Timberlake edges Clark Fork

CLARK FORK — Lynsie Powers led 3A Timberlake with 19 points and her key three pointer and free throws in the last minute clinched the 37-32 road victory over 1A Clark Fork Thursday night.

Bailey Hewitt led the Wampus Cats (3-9, 3-2) with 12 points and four steals and Rayna Allen added seven points, seven rebounds and five steals. The ultra-quick duo created havoc on Timberlake's perimeter, holding the Tigers (3-8, 0-1) to 20 points in the first three quarters.

"Those two girls up top are very quick, with exceptional foot speed," said Timberlake coach Gerald Ely. "We had a lot of lapses rebounding for most of the game, but we finally got with it in the end."

After being held in check for most of the game, the Tigers hit their stride offensively, scoring almost half their points in the fourth quarter.

The game was tied with ninety seconds left before Powers took over down the stretch. The Cats' struggle at the free throw line was part oftheir undoing, as was the foul trouble of Rashell Trunnell, the Cats' biggest inside presence, who went scoreless in limited minutes.

"We had a great game as far as hustle," said Cats' coach Mark Stevens of his scrappy defense. "We were only 6-18 from the free throw line and that was the difference."

Clark Fork is at Wallace next Friday.
