SAMUELS — Bonner County Sheriff's detectives and Idaho State Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a vehicle parked at a home along U.S. Highway 95 on Friday morning.

The body was discovered at about 8:30 a.m., according to Sheriff's Lt. Gary Johnston. Johnston declined to release any further information late Friday, citing the pending investigation.

"All that we can release right now is that we have a deceased male and it's still under investigation," he said.

Investigators spent Friday afternoon working to verify the man's identity and notify family members of the death. An autopsy is planned, though it was not immediately clear when it would be conducted.

There were several reports the man appeared to have a gunshot wound and that he might have taken his own life, but Sheriff's officials declined to confirm or deny those accounts.

Investigators and deputies could still be seen by the roadside late Friday, just north of the Durkee Road intersection, but it was not clear if that was the exact same spot the body was found. The address of the home where the vehicle was located was not released.
