Cats' win costly as Broggi, Young injured
CLARK FORK — Senior Tyler Broggi had 12 points and seven rebounds in the first half before leaving with a sprained ankle as the Wampus Cats took down visiting Wallace 48-32 in North Star League action Monday night.
Nick Arthun — whose father Brian is the football coach and athletic director at Clark Fork — led the Miners (3-8, 0-5) with 11 points. Wallace had trouble handling the full-court pressure of the deep Cats (6-8, 4-3).
"Our press caused a lot of turnovers in the first half," said Clark Fork coach Brian Powell, who wasn't happy with his team's execution. "It was a good league win and we really played hard. For this time of year we need to control the ball better and finish better."
Bill Clayton had six points to go with his team-high nine rebounds, Mike Martin had 11 and Cameron Jeffres added five points and seven steals for the Cats. Brian Young, who also turned an ankle late in the game, held Arthun well below his season average with hounding defense.
Clark Fork plays at undefeated Post Falls Christian on Saturday.
