The Idaho Office of Traffic and Highway Safety announces the availability of grant funds for two separate traffic safety programs. The first program provides state grant funds for railroad crossing safety programs beginning July 1, 2006. The second program provides Federal highway safety funds for state and local agencies beginning October 1, 2006. Priority highway safety program areas include safety restraint use, impaired drivers, aggressive driving, youthful drivers, roadway safety/traffic records, emergency medical services, bicycle and pedestrian safety, and other problem areas.

Grant fund applicants may be state, local governmental agencies, and non-profit organizations (FED Grants 501c((3)). The deadline for the railroad crossing and highway safety applications is February 28, 2006.
