Gerald Joseph Ginter, 56, passed away on Friday, Jan. 13, 2006 near his home in Samuels, Idaho.

Gerald was born on Dec. 6, 1949, in Platteville, Wis., the son of Leonard G. and Norma L. (Garthwick) Ginter. He grew up in Dubuque, Ill., and attended school there and in Australia. He moved back to the United States, living in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Later he moved to Silver Plume, Colo., where he worked in the mining industry.
He married Kathy Burkhart on June 11, 1977 in Silver Plume, and traveled to Fairplay, Colo., where he built his home. He worked in the mining and home construction industry, moving to Sandpoint, Idaho, in the summer of 1990. He worked in the home construction industry until his death.
Survivors include: a son, Luke Ginter of Sandpoint; daughters, Billie Jo Ginter of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Samanatha (Jake) Gipson of Elmira, Idaho; granddaughter, Emma Gipson of Elmira; his mother, Norma Ginter of Missouri; his brothers, Larry Ginter of Illinois, David Ginter of Montana, Terry Ginter of Texas; and a sister, Delores Rueter of Missouri.
Numerous nieces and nephews also survive
Gerald was preceded in death by his father, a brother, a sister and a son.
Hobbies included fishing, rifle shooting competitions, sailing and woodworking. He enjoyed building cabinets for the homes he constructed.
