Tom Stewart Fincher, 68

Tom Stewart Fincher, 68, passed away on Jan. 17, 2006, at his home.

A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.

Tom was born on Aug. 2, 1937, in Cottonville, La., the son of Henry S. and Lillian (Russell) Fincher. He grew up in Louisiana and at the age of 9, moved to Coalinga, Calif., where he attended local schools and graduated from high school.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country. He worked for Halliburton Oil Company for several years following his tour of duty in the Marines.

Tom married Patricia Treloar in Long Beach, Calif., in 1970 and worked in the picture framing industry prior to moving to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1978.

He worked for Idaho Wood Industries at their manufacturing plant in Dover, Idaho, and later in Ponderay, Idaho, until health difficulties forced him to retire in 2001.

Tom enjoyed the outdoors, working with his hands, was an avid reader, photography and wood working.

Survivors include his sons, Jason H. Fincher, second lieutenant, U.S.Marine Corps, in Quantico, Va., Howard Fincher, Robert Fincher and Gene Fincher; granddaughter Caroline Michelle Fincher of Quantico, Va.; a sister, Carol Young of Laclede, Idaho; and friend, Patricia Smith of Hayden, Idaho.

Tom will be missed by all of his many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
