Ben K. LaFore, 86, a lifetime resident of the Sandpoint, Idaho, area, passed away on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006.

Graveside services will be held in Pinecrest Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006. Ken Coulston will officiate.

Ben was born on Jan. 4, 1920, in Sandpoint, the son of John and Ellen LaFore. He attended local schools and, in 1941, he married Berniece Welo in 1941 in Las Vegas, Nev.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked as a laborer during the construction of the Cabinet Gorge and Albeni Falls dams. His remaining working years were spent in the lumber industry. He retired in 1985.

He is survived by four children, Bob LaFore of Sandpoint, Sally Chapman of Sagle, John LaFore of Milwaukie, Ore., and Lyn Hanneman of Milwaukie; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Berniece, in 2001.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
