Edith Mary (Kane) Sprouse, 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2006, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
A service to celebrate Edith's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Coffelt's Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division St., in Sandpoint. Chuck Wigton will be officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Edith was born on Nov. 2, 1926, in Oregon, the daughter of George and Eva (Newington) Shaffer. She grew up in Bottle Bay and moved to Bremerton, Wash., where she graduated from high school.
Edith married Roger Kane in 1946; they later divorced in 1980. While living in Sandpoint, Edith owned and operated a cake shop and balloon business out of Foster's Crossing called Edith's Balloon Bouquet.
She was also a member of First Christian Church in Sandpoint.
In 1991, she married Charles Sprouse. Edith would spend her summers at Jeb and Margaret's in Trestle Creek and the winters in Yuma, Ariz. She moved to Lewiston, Idaho, in 2002, where she was a member of Warner Alliance Church.
Charles passed away on July 2005 and Edith returned to Sandpoint to be closer to her family.
She loved gardening, fishing, camping, walks in the woods and being outdoors. She was a very family-oriented person.
Edith is survived by two children, Diane (Jay) Dennis of Cocolalla, Idaho, and Mike Kane of Sandpoint; six grandchildren, Jennifer Tifft, Cassandre Tifft, Chelsea Dennis, Jacky (Brian) McCluskie, Shauna Kane and Diana Kane; and four great-grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents.
