Hill Climb Series planned

| July 7, 2006 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Alpine Designs Bikes presents the Hill Climb Series to be held on Baldy Mountain road Aug. 27 and Schweitzer Mountain road Sept. 10, 2006. Each race starts at 9 a.m. and is open to all ages. The cost is $10 per race.

Cyclists will compete in the series to take home the title of "King and Queen Of The Mountains." To earn their crowns the winning riders will have to post the lowest combined time for both races. There will be age divisions and prizes will be awarded. There will also be raffle prizes from the event sponsors.

This will be the first ever Baldy Mountain climb. The ride details are still being finalized but cyclists can be assured that the seven plus mile course will be challenging and fun.

The Schweitzer Mountain climb was started in the early 1980's and it features a 2500- foot climb over 8.4 miles on Schweitzer's paved road. The addition of a single-track trail climb was added to the race in 2005 and was very popular among mountain bikers. The single-track climb will again be part of the 2006 Schweitzer Hill Climb.
