Freda M. Shirts, 86, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Sunday, July 9, 2006.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2006, in the Sandpoint Christian Center on North Boyer Avenue. Pastor Roger Bejot and Pastor Dale Payton will officiate with interment following in Pack River Cemetery.

Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 12, from noon until 6 p.m.

Freda was born in Lewiston, Idaho, on Dec. 25, 1919, the daughter of George and Pearl Mattoon. She attended schools in the Lewiston, Idaho, area and married Keith D. Shirts on May 18, 1941, in Lewiston.

She lived in Yakima, Wash., and Lewiston prior to moving to Sandpoint in July 1949. She helped operate the family dairy farm on Shingle Mill Road and also worked in the family cut shop.

Freda enjoyed sitting on the dock fishing and cooking for family and friends. She was a member of the Church of God and liked to play church hymns on her guitar.

She is survived by two daughters, Delores (Melvin) Brewer of Sandpoint and Carol (Ray Jr.) Haworth of Sandpoint; seven grandchildren, Keith Brewer of Mead, Wash., Jeanette Ellis of Gridley, La., Dwight Brewer of Naples, Idaho, Ray Haworth of Bristow, Okla., Cheryl Haworth of Temecula, Calif., Bab Haworth of Ceres, Calif., and Lisa Apodaca of Temecula, Calif.; 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; two brothers, George Mattoon of Lewiston and Merrill Mattoon of Lewiston; and a sister, Margaret Wallace of Clarkston, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a baby, three brothers, a sister and a great-grandson, Dillyn Haworth.
