Kenneth G. Bennett, 87, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2006, in Coeur d'Alene.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2006, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Sixth and Oak, in Sandpoint, Idaho, with the Rev. Dennis Day officiating.
Mr. Bennett was born on Feb. 24, 1919, in Deer Lodge, Mont., the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Bennett of Deer Lodge. He grew up and attended schools there, serving his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He married Anna Pavliska on Oct. 6, 1948, in Spokane, Wash.
Mr. Bennett was employed by the Great Northern and Burlington Northern railroads, with the majority of his 33-year career living in Sandpoint. He retired in 1980 and moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in the mid-1980s, where he resided ever since. He spent 15 winters in Mesa, Ariz., after his retirement.
He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Kelley Council No. 2888 in Sandpoint, Idaho, as well as a past president of that council. He was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sandpoint and currently a member of Saint Thomas Parish in Coeur d'Alene.
He also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Lakeside Elks Lodge in Coeur d'Alene, Eagle Aerie No. 589, in Sandpoint, a 50-year member of the Transportation Communications International Union, a member of the BNSF Vets and Spokane Telegraph Club.
Mr. Bennett enjoyed golf, bowling and the activities at the senior center in Coeur d'Alene.
He is survived by his wife, Anna of Coeur d'Alene; a son, Patrick of Spokane, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
