Raymond E.'Pete' Peterson

Raymond E. "Pete" Peterson, 89, of Fremont, Neb., and formerly of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Funeral arrangements will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Leland D. Foreman of First Baptist Church, Fremont, will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 17, 2006, from 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

He was born on June 16, 1917, in rural Wahoo, Neb.

Raymond married Marjorie M. Nolte on June 26, 1940, at Bloomfield, Neb.

He farmed a short time in Saunders County and shortly after his marriage, he moved to San Diego, Calif.

Pete was employed at an aircraft factory for several years and then returned to the Wahoo, Neb., area and farmed his grandfather's farm. In 1952, he returned to California and again worked in the aircraft factory. He retired in 1980 and moved to Sandpoint. Pete moved to Fremont in 1994.

After his retirement, the couple enjoyed camping.

He was a former member of Marietta Baptist Church in Mead, Neb.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Clara (Wild) Peterson; and a sister, Lillian.

Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.

Moser Memorial Chapel of Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
