Community must pull together and help thrift store find a home

| July 24, 2006 9:00 PM

The Sandpoint Senior Thrift Store has given too much to the community and helped too many people for us not to help the group now.

When it learned it would its home late last month, the store held a massive sale to liquidate its inventory as much as possible and, through the generosity of folks in the community, put the rest into storage.

The Sandpoint Senior Thrift Store is looking for a new home — either a place to rent or land to build on. Tips can be called in to the group at 263-1485, 265-9740 or 263-3936.

Without a new home, the group may not be able to continue its mission to help such groups as Kinderhaven, Habitat for Humanity, Bonner Community Food Center and so much more.

As a community, we would be a much poorer place without the dedication and community spirit exhibited by the thrift store board and its cadre of volunteers.

The least we can do is help them out when they need it — after all, they've helped all of us out through the years. More importantly, though, it's what a community does — help each other out.

If you know of a place, give the thrift store's board a call at one of the above numbers.

They have a month to find a new home. Let's help them find it.
