Glen Deitrick

| July 30, 2006 9:00 PM

Glen Newton Deitrick, 80, passed away peacefully with his family by his side July 26, 2006. Glen, an Idaho native, was born April 25, 1926 in Clark Fork, Idaho, where he grew up on the family ranch.

In April 1944, Glen enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After completing training at Farragut Naval Base in Bayview, Idaho, he served in World War II on the USS Tappahannock. Following his military service, he worked with Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Co., as a lineman for 38 years. During this time he met and later married his wife Betty.

Soon after they were married, Glen and Betty made their home in Post Falls, Idaho. Glen was passionate about preparing and caring for his vegetable and flower gardens. Each season, he delighted in sharing his ample harvest of beans, corn, tomatoes, potatoes, pumpkins, squash, roses and glads with neighbors, family and the local food bank.

Glen loved the Idaho outdoors and enjoyed many happy years hunting, fishing, "huckleberrying," camping and exploring the mountains and lakes with family and friends.

Glen is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Betty Deitrick; two daughters and son-in-laws, Glenda and Ron Trees of Lewiston, Idaho, and Dianna and Eric Tibesar of Liberty Lake, Wash.; his sister, Patty Mucci of Clearwater Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Cody and Courtney Tibesar.

Thank you to all the people that helped Betty care for Glen over the last year and a special thank you to Horizon Hospice. To all who knew and loved Glen, remember his happy smile and bright blue eyes.

No services will be held. Yates Funeral Homes' Coeur d'Alene Chapel was entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Glen's memorial and sign his online guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
