Betty Shaver, 53, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, in Ponderay, Idaho.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2006, at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Matt Lombard from the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sandpoint, Idaho, will be officiating.

Betty was born on March 5, 1953, in Sandpoint, the daughter of Donald Roy and Nellie (Mitchell) Shaver. She grew up and attended schools in Sandpoint, graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1971.

She worked for Schweitzer Mountain Resort during high school and after graduation. She continued her education and received a bachelor of science degree in political science.

From 1985 to 1995, she lived in the Noxon-Heron, Mont., area where she owned and operated the gas station in Noxon, Mont. She returned to Sandpoint in 1995 and moved to Pocatello, Idaho, to pursue her master's degree in public administration from Idaho State University. Betty returned to Sandpoint in 2004.

She enjoyed spending time with her horses and dogs it was her family that she dearly loved.

She faced many trials in her life, the last being cancer. She met this with courage and strength and never complained about it. She was an inspiration to her children, family and friends.

Betty's strength these past few months was drawn from her Christian beliefs in God, and her pastor, who through God, brought her much comfort.

She is survived by three children, Angela Schwab of Missoula, Mont., Nikole West of Ponderay and John Marineau of Pocatello, Idaho; her mother, Nellie Shaver of Ponderay; a brother, Ron (Ellen) Shaver of Murray, Utah; and sisters, Marlene (Glen) Thompson of Ponderay and Leona (Don) Crawford of Kent, Wash.

Betty was preceded in death by her father, Donald Roy Shaver, in 2001.
