SANDPOINT — The Lumberman got the bats going early and often, scoring 10 runs in the first three innings to beat the host Lakers 16-6 in the first half of a doubleheader Wednesday at War Memorial Field.

Alex Capaul and Trent Bridges both had three RBIs and Cory Kreighbaum hit a homer to lead the offensive onslaught for the Lumbermen (5-0, 3-0).

"I liked how we stayed intense the entire game, kept putting pressure on," said Lumbermen coach Lloyd Duman. "Early in the season that's a very good sign. The Lakers are a very good baseball team."

Luke Pearlstein led the Lakers (3-2, 1-1) with three hits in the losing effort.
