Escalating rates prompted California's tax revolt

I was a Bonner County resident who moved away to Oregon roughly 10 years ago for a better job. I was thinking about the article and was reminded of what the folks in the Northern Californian were faced with back in the early 1970s.
The results of the escalating tax rates essentially forced a tax revolt lead by Howard Jarvis and Paul Gann, creators of the Jarvis-Gann initiative which eventually led to Proposition 13 in 1975.
