Robert William 'Bob' Green, 94

Robert William "Bob" Green, 94, passed away in Spokane, Wash., on June 14, 2006.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2006, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stake center, 602 Schweitzer Cutoff Road. Presiding at the services will be Bishop Jeff Grummesall, with Tom Dryden officiating. Interment will follow in the Pack River Cemetery.

Bob was born in Hope, Idaho, on Jan. 10, 1912, the son of William and Mabel (Crandall) Green. He attended Bonner County schools, later working for the U.S. Forest Service and Diamond Match Company.

He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunner's mate, second class. He was a powderman, working with explosives, for a construction battalion in England.

Following the war, he returned to Sandpoint, Idaho, and married Lois Clark on April 11, 1946, in Thompson Falls, Mont. He worked for the Idaho State Road Department, plowing snow, and helped build Herschell's Lighthouse restaurant in Hope. In 1950, he started working for Pack River Lumber Company, operating heavy equipment, and retiring in 1976. From 1984, he lived in Fall City, Wash., where he and his wife served in the LDS Temple in Bellevue. In 1999, he moved to Spokane.

He was a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, currently attending the Greenacres Ward.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and cutting and polishing rocks. He enjoyed family activities and sharing his sense of humor and wisdom with the family.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Green of Spokane Valley, Wash.; five children, Diana (Philip) Bloom of Moses Lake, Wash., Kenneth (Linda) Green of North Bend, Wash., Beverly (Patrick) Cabbage of Spokane, Wash., David (Anne) Green of Fall City, Wash., and Ellen (Jeff) Mullen of Oldtown, Idaho; and 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Grace Pretre; and a granddaughter, Christina Bloom.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
