Chemicals don't belong in lake

| June 19, 2006 9:00 PM

Be aware, parents who plan on signing your kids up for swim lessons at City Beach this year. These time are approximate, but starting around the week of June 21, at two-week intervals, for three applications, your county will be putting poison into the lake at both City Beach marinas.

Children should not swim in herbicide, I don't care what the chemical companies say. Remember, the chemical companies pay for the studies, they pay for our politicians and they profit from the sales. Not a winning combo for truth telling.

It's a shame that our county government does not care enough about our children to see their way to spending some of the cash they received from the state for alternative methods of milfoil control at one of the most popular swimming areas in Boner County. I guess boat engines and connivence are more important than our kids. And if that doesn't make you mad, you've probably been sucking down too much 2, 4-D.
