Virginia M. Swisher, 92

Virginia M. Swisher, 92, went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2006; 30 days after her husband of 66 years passed away.

Virginia was born in Crosby, N.D., to Henry L. and Ada N. Sherwood. When she was young, the family moved to the Sandpoint, Idaho, area, just outside of Dover, Idaho. After graduating from Sandpoint High School and North Idaho College of Education in Lewiston, Virginia taught for several years in area schools, including Selle, Hope, Algoma School, Sandpoint, Potlatch and St. Maries.

She married George Swisher in 1940 and taught school in Sandpoint while he was overseas in World War II. She had lived for many years in the Pasco, Wash., area.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, George; her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Ruth Sherwood of Dover; and her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Luada of Wishram, Wash.; her son Bob and his wife, Nilea, and their children, Kevin and Kylie of Pasco; as well as Dick and Maggie Sherwood of Sagle, Idaho; Randy and Gail Curless of Dover; and Dough and Kathy Sherwood of Kenmore, Wash.

Funeral services were held in Pasco and she was interred in St. Maries beside her husband.
