Make your voice heard on property tax reform

| March 1, 2006 8:00 PM

It was great to see the number of voters who turned up at polls on Feb. 7. It shows that residents are worried about the taxes in Bonner County.

With the increase in property values over the past four years, don't you think it should be a priority to get something done about our skyrocketing taxes? So I did some research and found that there are only a couple places in Idaho that are having the same problems. We are not the majority, only a minority. So let's make our voices heard.

I invite each and every person that came out to vote (6,583 the unofficial number) to write to their state officials. With that number of letters to your state officials, maybe we would be heard.

Do you realize the biggest item on their agenda the week before the Feb. 7 election was gay marriages? It seems to me that we have bigger and more pressing issues like sky rocketing property taxes. Make your voice, be heard and write or e-mail your letters to Shawn Keough at skeough@senate.idaho.gov, Eric Anderson at eanderso@house.idaho.gov and George Eskridge at geskridg@house.idaho.gov.
