Moe 2nd in hoop shoot

Aaron Moe, 12, of Bonners Ferry finished second in his age group at the Elks Hoop Shoot regionals last Saturday in Portland, Oregon.

He finished second to a kid from Washington who made a perfect 25 out of 25 attempts. In front of about 300 people at Concordia College, Moe netted 21-25 to safely take second place.

"He was a little upset at first," said his father, Ed Moe. "Then I think the reality set in."

He had made 23, 22 and 22 respectfully in wins leading up to the regionals, where he represented Idaho as the state champion. His 21 makes in the finals wasn't nearly the drop-off most participants suffered.

"Lots of the kids were 3-5 shots worse than at state," Moe said. "There was a lot of pressure; he did pretty good."
