Taxpayers don't want to pick up another tab

| March 8, 2006 8:00 PM

Mr. Drinkard's recent letter still misses the point. We do not want any level of tax supported playground, period. How much plainer does an 8-to-1 repudiation last month have to be? No!

The library is an apple compared to a recreation district's pate. A library is a repository of knowledge and education, a place of personnel and practical enrichment for all ages and interests, not a luxury appealing to a narrow range of the population where you're charged a fee to get in on top of your taxes.

The recreation district supporters never answered the question of personal financial enrichment.

Build a center with private grants and donations if you want, but don't ask the stressed taxpayers to pick up yet another tab, of any amount. We already support multiple sports and clubs through the school.
