Karen Ruth Helm, 69, passed away, Thursday, March 9, 2006 in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the Sandpoint Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Dennis Durfee conducting. Burial will follow at the Pack River Cemetery.

Karen was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on Jan. 15, 1937, to Alex and Ruth Korneff. She grew up and attended schools in the Los Angeles area, graduating from high school in Long Beach.

Karen married Lawrence Helm in 1955 in Los Angeles. She worked as an accountant for Green's Ready-Mix, and raised her four children. In 1993 she moved to Sandpoint to be closer to her daughters and grandchildre

In Sandpoint she provided accounting services for a short time prior to suffering a stroke in 1994. It was at this time she found it in her heart to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She enjoyed the church, where she was well liked and served as a Sunday school teacher. Karen was a strong woman, raising four children and spoiling her grandchildren. She was loved by many and had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed art, oil painting, history, crafts, and music, especially classical and the Beatles.

She is survived by her three daughters, Kimberly Helm of Chicago, Ill., Jana Howard of Sandpoint and Caryn Helm of Sandpoint; a son, Larry (Shelly) Helm of Apple Valley, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Kyle, Jacob, Taylor, Evelyn, and Alex. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Roan, and son-in-law James Howard.
