Wanda L. DeBaun, 94
Wanda L. DeBaun, 94, passed away, Saturday, March 18, 2006, in Sandpoint, Idaho, one day prior to her 95th birthday.
Private family memorial services will be held in Gifford, Idaho, at a later date.
Wanda was born to Rolla and Amanda Parrott in Gifford, on March 19, 1911. This is where she received her elementary and high school education.
After graduating from Lewiston Normal School, she embarked on a teaching career that spanned some 30 years — primarily while teaching in the Lewiston, Idaho, school district. She moved to Sandpoint 10 years ago to be closer to her remaining family.
In her later years, Wanda developed a passion for reading and book collecting. Her love of books lead her to assume the duty of "head librarian" at Sandpoint's Life Care Center. She could often be found in the center's library organizing shelves and categorizing donated books. She remained an active participant in a variety of activities at the center until the day of her death.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Lauren E. DeBaun, and she is survived by her son and his wife, Jack and Janice DeBaun of Sandpoint.
Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Life Care Center for the loving attention that she received there during the last five years of her life. Their compassion and expert care during the final hours of her life are deserving of special recognition.
Memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Library, 1407 Cedar St., Sandpoint, ID 83864; or to a library of your choice.
Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Wanda's memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her online guest book.
