Dead bird should be removed from beach
On March 19, my children and I were visiting City Beach. A group of children had surrounded a dead goose on the sand bar in the north swimming area. I called the Bonner County Dispatch and requested a pick-up of the carcass. I was informed three times that "Fish and Game does not want dead animals picked up. The 'natural conditions' will take care of the body."
I am livid. Children were playing with/exposed to dead waterfowl. Dead from what? What guarantees are there that the bird isn't a victim of bird flu? This is a public beach! What benefits are there to a decaying, putrid corpse being left on the beach for "natural" disposal to occur? A good vision for a tourist to take from our area … crows feeding on a rotten carcass!
With all the recent attention these "vicious" waterfowl have been given about their "poop," which would you rather have — a little clean poop or a putrid, rotting body for the children to see and walk on?
Everyone who enjoys the City Beach area needs to call Mayor Ray Miller at 263-3310 and lodge a complaint about the attitude shown and get a change made. It is disgusting that this is allowed to continue.
