Lichty, Howell power Bulldogs past Hawks

RATHDRUM — Sandpoint's Tyler Lichty and Jake Howell combined for two homers and six RBIs as the Bulldogs (1-2) routed the Lakeland Hawks 12-2 on Monday in a contest called after the sixth inning due to the 10-run rule.

"My pitching staff is pretty young, and were keeping the ball in the zone," Lakeland coach Jason Bradbury said. "Their bats were hot and we paid for that all night long."

Vince D'Orazi was sharp on the mound as he kept the Lakeland (0-2) hitters guessing all game.

"He stayed ahead in the count, kept guys off balance and threw strikes," said Bulldogs' coach Mike Givens.

Sandpoint hosts Moscow on Thursday.
