Commissioners deserve kudos on appraisal mess

Now that the dust has apparently settled on the assessment controversy, I have some observations that may be pertinent in this election year.

First, I want to state that I voted for Judie Conlan in the last election. I felt that she had been doing the job all along no matter who the elected assessor was, and should continue doing the same job, this time with recognition.

Attending some of the recent public meetings, I was much disconcerted. I have to agree with county Commissioner Karl Dye when he told Ms. Conlan that all the commissioners wanted was for her to do her job as she was elected to do.

Her staff is now willing to do the work to play catch-up. Why not before now? What have they been doing all along. Their office should never have been in this position in the first place.

Kudos to the county commissioners for continuing to press for a responsible, business-like conclusion to this issue.
