Throw the incumbents out

| May 3, 2006 9:00 PM

With regard to some county and state government officials, it comes to mind that the Bonner County residents should be at the point of implementing that illustrious axiom "throw the bums out" or in the vernacular of us rural dudes, "chuck those buffalo-chip artists" out of office.

The county commissioners are not in control and the assessor is out of control; they have proven themselves as ineffective in handling their jobs and supporting the legal citizens' concerns as members of the Idaho State legislature and the U.S. Congress.

The mismanagement of the assessor's office has been pathetic: From assessing commercial property ridiculously low to not putting new construction on the tax rolls for years.

Folks, that means that each and every property owner has been charged excessive taxes to subsidize those parcels not yet on the books and then the assessor is concerned that requiring back taxes from those property owners would be unfair; what the heck is going on here.

Fair would be to collect back taxes (forget the late fees because it was county government's fault) and refund each and every property tax payer their fair share. If county government intends to be fair, then that's the way it should be.

And if the electorate wants to show the government how to be fair, vote against all incumbents that are not hearing the general populace's voice, regardless of their party affiliation. Care to join me?
